What is the difference between Compagnon and a story box?
A story box is mainly for listening to content chosen in advance. With the Knowledge Box, the child asks their own questions and interacts by voice: asking for an explanation, revising a lesson, playing or listening to a story. The uses grow with them, from 8 to 15.
From what age can Compagnon be used?
We recommend it from age 8, because that is when a child asks questions on their own and gets the most out of talking out loud. Earlier, between 5 and 7, the voice assistant can already be used to listen to personalised stories, reinforce the basics in reading or maths and play simple voice games. Below 5 it is a bit early, as putting a question into words is still hard. In every case, answers adapt to the age, school year and profile set by the parents.
Is Compagnon really limited to 15 years old?
No. We say 8 to 15 because that is when the Knowledge Box brings the most, from primary to middle school, and because it offers a screen-free alternative before the first smartphone. Nothing prevents using it beyond that: content and explanations keep adapting to the child's age and profile.
How does Compagnon adapt to my child?
Through the profile created by the parents: first name, age or school year, interests and useful details. The voice assistant adjusts its vocabulary and level of explanation, and remembers useful information over time to stay relevant. The profile can be edited at any time from the parent app.
Does Compagnon do the homework for the child?
No. It helps where talking really matters: explaining a concept, asking the child to rephrase, reciting a lesson or a poem, quizzing before a test, practising a language out loud or preparing a presentation. It replaces neither the notebook, nor written work, nor the teacher.
Why not simply give the child a smartphone or ChatGPT?
Because the goal is different. Our smart speaker gives access to knowledge by voice, screen-free, in a setting designed for children and configured by parents. It does not open access to a full phone, to apps or to social networks.
How is my child's data protected?
The profile and the exchanges are used only to run the device and adapt it to the child. Exchanges are encrypted in transit, are not sold to third parties, and parents can review and then delete the profile from the parent app.
Does Compagnon have free access to the Internet?
No. The child has no browser and no free web access. The voice assistant uses the services needed for its answers, including a controlled search when up-to-date information is useful (weather, news). It is not an open Internet device.
Does Compagnon work without Wi-Fi?
Not for the main features: a Wi-Fi connection is required today to ask questions and talk with Compagnon. An optional memory card lets the child listen offline to preloaded audio content (music, podcasts, stories).
What control do parents keep?
Everything is managed from the parent app: the child's profile, the main settings, usage windows and time, and a follow-up of the exchanges. You keep control over what is enabled and see how Compagnon is used at home.
What is Compagnon's battery life?
Over 10 hours of continuous use. Charging is done through the USB-C port, cable included.
How does the Compagnon connected speaker work?
The connected speaker works like a walkie-talkie: you press the central button while asking your question, then release it. During the answer, one click pauses playback and another click resumes it where it stopped.
Is Compagnon a friend or a buddy for my child?
No. The Knowledge Box is not designed to replace human relationships: it is an educational tool and a learning companion. It does not seek to create emotional bonds or hold personal conversations; its role is to feed curiosity, explain and encourage exploration. That is why we called it "Compagnon" and not "buddy".
Can Compagnon be used with family or friends?
Yes. The connected speaker suits quiet moments alone, such as homework or rest time, but many uses are designed to be shared: voice games, quizzes, interactive stories or learning challenges are even more fun with others.
